The whole problem here is that you're trying to use *bookshelves* to keep your books out of the way. All ya gotta do is keep a pneumatic nail-gun and some foot-long spikes handy for the purpose and every time you get a new book, just fire up the compressor and pin the tome into a handy chunk of ceiling where it will be out from underfoot. No sorting, no reordering, no precious floor space wasted on a shelf's footprint. Sure, there's a few disadvantages, like turning your upstairs neighbor's living room floor into a steel pincushion, needing a crowbar every time you want to satisfy your Bujold fix and the fact that the day you get any volume of the Song of Ice and Fire they're going to need to send cave-in crews to dig you out, but if we keep fixating on details here we're never going to get anywhere. Sheesh! -Jeff And think of all the money you'll save on ceiling insulation and acoustic tiling! -- Jeff Huo | jeff@spundreams.net.nospam (remove nospam) U.
