Over the last few weeks, lots of people have been responding to you and
arguing against points you've made.  It occurs to me that, because of
this, you may have gotten a few false impressions.  So just to clear up
any misunderstandings that have arisen, I'll point out that the people
responding to you are just using your posts as a springboard to say things
that we want to say and that need to be said.

We're not responding to you because we actually care about your opinion,
or because we don't think you're a moron.  Rest assured that we don't and
we do, respectively.  I just wanted to make this perfectly clear, because
I'd feel bad if you felt that we were arguing with you as an intellectual
equal, and only realized years from now that you've contributed to this
discussion exactly as a grain of sand contributes to a pearl -- by being
the irritant around which precious material accretes.

I know how much you value intellectual honesty, so I just thought it best
to be perfectly forthright about all this, lest you later accuse us of
exaggerating and lying.
